Drive from Darjeeling to Gangtok. – 28Oct1998

Start of our journey it was as usual hilly drive, but after a while may be at around 4PM we stopped at Teesta River for break, God! What a place. We have to travel more 7hrs, around 47kms to Gangtok. Teesta is 24kms from Darjeeling. In the dark when moon was in its full the River looked beautiful. Teesta is the best river in India for rafting. I saw many rafts but nobody using them.
The ghat section with winding roads and cool breeze hitting on me was something I can never forget. Theesta and the Moon were traveling with us all through our journey they were shining on us. When we were near to Gangtok I found people there relaxed and willing wave back to us as we went though village after village.
In Gangtok we went to many places our car driver was very friendly person he gave us lot of information about his home town(Gangtok) TOK means top of the hill, So Gangtok. Every place in Gangtok is a View point. It’s the place to be. Seeing all these places I don’t know what is so great about Bangalore that I keep bragging about.
